Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, anesthetic effect of thymol (100, 125, 150, 175, 200, 225 and 250 mg/l) and carvacrol (100, 125, 150, 175, 200, 225 and 250 µl/l ) anesthetic agents were investigated in narrow-clawed freshwater crayfish (Pontastacus leptodactylus Eschscholtz, 1823) with 21.83±5.1 g mean weight and 9.48±0.57 cm total lenght. Experimental results showed that the ideal dose of thymol was determined as 200 mg/l with 16.49±8.38 minutes for anetesia and 27.36±1.7 recovery time, and similarly effective dose of carvacrol was determined as 200 µl/l with 7.59±3.21 minutes of anestesia and 89.21±11.41 minutes recovery time . Although the duration of anestesia was shortened at thymol and carvacrol 225 mg/l and 250 µl/l concentrations, mortality rates were observed to be quite high as 66% and 50% respectively. For both anesthetic agents, with increasing dose, anestesia times were shortened, but recovery time were prolonged. In addition, it was determined that the death rate increased with the increasing dose. With the prolongation of anestesia induction time during the application of thymol and carvacrol substances, high glucose values were measured in hemolymp during the anestesia with the insufficient lower doses
