The role of transformational leader in change management

The swift change and development of our age is a reality. There is a matter offast and overwhelming change over a wide array of subject ranging from society,economic conditions to the communication technologies. In this regard, organizationscan not isolate themselves from the fast and continuous process of change. In particular,it is impossible to think that education and training organizations aiming to changehuman behavior are unaffected by this process.Organizations have to adapt to the environmental change and affect the changeprocess to be able to survive in competition and come to a better state. More importantly tolead in the process requires development of active approaches to the matter of change and afurther step beyond being an object of the process. This issue has necessitated presence ofleaders that can form and share a common vision, develop creativity through intellectualencouragement, attract people? respect and trust by his/her charismatic influence withemphasis on team work, and finally that can initiate radical changes through mobilizationof employees by means of intuitive creativity. The transformatory leaders, as impetus forsocial development, have become important for all sectors of education and trainingorganizationsDeparting from this point, our study, by means of emphasis on the management ofchange and analysis on the role of transformatory leader to cope in the process, gives adescriptive analysis of the level of transformatory leadership characteristics of headmanagers as perceived by their subordinates at the academic units of Celal BayarUniversity.
