Abstract (EN)
This study was done in accordance with the design research predictive, cross-sectional, descriptive that was performed to examine affecting factors and sleep quality of caregivers of people with dementia. The study was conducted with caregivers of dementia patients who applied to DEUTF Geriatrics Department Aging Brain Polyclinic and Neurology Department Dementia Outpatient Clinic between February and July 2019. As data collection tools in this study; Demographic data collection form, MMT, NPE, GYA, EGYA, BDI, ASÖ, CKÖ, BVY and PSQI were used. SPSS 25.0 program was used to evaluate the data in the study, and multiple regression analysis was performed to determine the factors affecting the sleep quality of the caregiver. In the G-power 3.0 program, the effect size was evaluated as d = 0.15 (medium effect), the significance level was less than 0.05, the sample number was 119, and the correlation power as r = 85% based on 8 variables in regression analysis. In the study, it was found that the sleep quality of caregivers of individuals with dementia was poor (average PSQI score of 10.70 ± 3.663), that the introductory characteristics of dementia individuals and their caregivers did not affect the sleep quality of caregivers; It was concluded that the SMMT(p=0,000), GYA(p=0,010), EGYA(p=0,000) and NPE(p=0,001) scores of individuals with dementia and the BDÖ(p=0,000), ASÖ(p=0,000), CKÖ(p=0,000) and BVY(p=0,000) scores of the caregivers were affected. In addition, according to the results of the regression analysis conducted in the study; standardized mini mental test, neuropsychiatric inventory, instrumental daily life activity, daily life activity of individuals with dementia; Caregivers' perceived stress, caregiver burden, depression, and Charlson comorbidity scale together are significant predictors of caregiver sleep quality (F = 17.020; p = 0.000 <0.05). The eight listed variables together account for 55% of the variance in sleep quality. Nurses should also consider the needs of caregivers who help them through the challenging care processes of people with dementia. As a result of this study, it was determined that the quality of sleep of caregivers was poor. It is believed that these research results will increase awareness of the quality of sleep of caregivers and lead to Planned research aimed at improving the quality of sleep of caregivers. Key Words: Dementia, caregivers, sleep.
