Red color is used in many periods of Anatolian tile and ceramic arts. By the development of Ottoman Empire, the tile and ceramic arts displayed a significant improvement. In the coral red color tests, which was employed in this research, the clay bodies of znik, with respect to the prescriptions of Ebul Kasım, and red colors, considering the prescriptions of Faruk Sahin, are prepared. The color and texture affects were examined by employing the coating tests at 820, 920 and 1000 Cº with red clays, which were supplied from the several areas, on the clay bodies that are constituted of Menemen clay. The color changes of red color are observed in the results of the tests. In order to obtain red color by the use of clays including iron oxide, it is an obligatory to examine the structures of clays, the production methods of red clolor and the iron oxide which will be used in the productions extensively in a scientific scope. In the practices, the clays of Karacasu and Menemen are pulverized and used in the production of coating. Considering the aim, the method of the research was constituted with the theoretical and practical applications. At the end of this thesis, it was tried to clarify the issue regarding the structure of red colour with clay which included iron oxide by reaching an opinion using the data and findings. Nevertheless, in order to find more reliable information the necessity of more comprehensive, systematic and detailed laboratory experiments was evaluated.
