Abstract (EN)
This thesis comprehensively examines the legislative activities of the Amasya deputies who served in the Democratic Party government between Dec. 1950 and 1960, when Turkey entered into multiparty political life, in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. The period of the Democratic Party is considered as a critical period in the Political History of Turkey, especially when the influence of the province in politics and local representation strengthened. In this deputies elected especially from small and medium-sized cities not only expressed the local needs of their regions, but also played important roles in bringing economic, social, cultural and political issues of national concern to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. This situation shows the importance given to local representation. Within the scope of the study, the biographical backgrounds of the Amasya deputies, their educational, their speeches at the Plenary Session of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, the legislative proposals they submitted and the written and oral motions they made were analyzed. Within the scope of the research, the minutes of the Grand National Assembly, archival documents and secondary sources were used extensively. The obtained from the sources were classified into headings and the legislative activities of the deputies were examined and evaluated. The information obtained as a result of the evaluations of Amasya deputies are not limited only to their constituencies, but also take on active and effective roles in issues such as education, transportation, agriculture, economy, and foreign policy related to the who This situation shows that the deputies also contributed to the understanding of the period. In this context, the influence of local politics on national decision-making has become clearly visible and it has been revealed that the understanding of representation has historical between 1950 and 1960 from a multidimensional perspective from the local to the center.
