Abstract (EN)

Turkey and Iran are two major countries of the Middle East. These two countries have amicable relations from the past. Even if this friendship became strong during the time of Atatürk, it has progressed and regressed at times. Relations, in which mutual agreements and gestures increased over the course of its progress, did not break completely even when strained. Because the relation between two countries continued even when they were tense. The years between 1950 and 1960 is a period in which social and political changes are experienced for both countries. Because the mentioned time was a period when a new order was tried to be created in the Middle East. Mutual relations were increased, and they became closer during the Democratic Party period when they set similar goals and objectives in foreign policy. One of these convergences was westernization, which was a foreign policy goal for both countries during the period of Shah. Thanks to this mutual objective, these two countries acted in line with their benefits and came together in mutual pacts and agreements. In addition to these, they have made economic, cultural and political agreements for the security of the country. Thanks to the nationalist policy, another similar approach, these two countries cooperated with each other and concluded some agreements that have been ongoing for years. Although foreigners were included and the Democratic Party remained in power, the two states avoided conflict by meeting on a common ground and maintaining friendly relations in that period. Despite this, due to the threat of Soviet communism Turkey had been very careful in relations with Iran for a while. Because Mosaddeq who served as Iranian Prime Minister for a while was thought to be pro-Soviet. Due to these internal and external reasons, the two states have been careful in their relations and made joint efforts.
