Production of nautical navigation charts

The Turkey is in good position that three sides cover by water. So, it needs to be try for keep up with developing about chart technology. As a result of safety for navigation, decrease for marine transportation payment, have benefit of marine culture ( above water and under water) ,hydrographic and oceanographic measurement are doing and navigational charts are producing by Hydrographic Office. All these reasons show that it is important to produce charts which have high quality and data quality assurance.This project has explained about Turkish chart history from Ottoman Empire to now, also how can produce charts and the last point of the chart technology which is named ENC (Electronic Navigation Chart).Project has also included informations about classic paper chart (paper chart is stil using for navigation) production from planning to printing with international standards. Also included, ENC production and ENC advantages. For instance, low expense than paper chart, same data assurrance as paper chart and eligible for connecting to navigational equipment (GPS, ARPA Radar, Autopilot, etc.) with ECDIS which stands for Electronic Chart Display Information System.Key Words : Sea Cartography, Radar, Electronic Navigation Chart (ENC), Paper Chart, Hydrography, Oceanography, Electronic Navigation Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS).
