A model proposal for warehouse performance measurement

Today, keeping up with the competition conditions and meeting customer demands is considered as a difficult process for logistics businesses. The reason is that the changing commercial conditions and accordingly the customer demands are variable. In order for logistics enterprises to continue their activities, it is necessary to keep up with commercial processes and meet customer demands. The cost effect of logistics activities on businesses is at levels that cannot be ignored. In logistics enterprises, the reason for the highest cost and environmental impact after transportation is the storage function. It is possible to shorten the logistics activity processes and reduce costs by carrying out the activities carried out in the warehouses effectively and efficiently. In order to reduce the operating costs of logistics warehouses, managers in the sector and all business employees have great duties. In warehouses, employees must demonstrate high performance in all storage operations in order to achieve the targeted success criteria. Efforts were made to ensure that the activities carried out in logistics warehouses are carried out efficiently and with high performance, and to guide logistics and warehouse managers. In this study, it is aimed to determine the most important criteria among the criteria determined for performance measurement in logistics warehouses and to present a model proposal by ordering the criteria according to the degree of importance. In the first chapter, the concept of logistics and its historical development are mentioned. Then, the logistics activities carried out are mentioned. The types, features and functions of warehouses, which have an important place among logistics activities, are mentioned. In the second part, the concepts of logistics and performance are explained and their importance is mentioned. With the literature review, logistics warehouse performance criteria were examined and studies on logistics warehouse performance were mentioned. Then, the warehouse performance criteria used in the study were determined and the criteria were structured hierarchically. In the third part, a data collection form was prepared specifically for the study in order to evaluate the performance criteria determined for the basic activities carried out in the logistics warehouses, which is the purpose of the research. Data were obtained from 7 people, consisting of warehouse managers of logistics enterprises, through a data collection form. The consistency of the data obtained with the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) was determined and inconsistency was determined in the data of 2 people. Then, as a result of the analysis carried out with the Best Worst Method (BWM) in line with the data obtained from 5 people, the main criterion of efficiency is more important than the others, the order picking process under the main criterion of time, the accuracy of the physical inventory under the main criterion of quality, the order processing under the main criterion of cost. Labor efficiency criteria, which are under the main criteria of cost and productivity, were determined as the most important criteria, and the weights of other criteria relative to each other were determined and a model proposal was presented.
