Abstract (EN)

The probability of occurrence and recurrence of disasters is high in our country. For this reason, it is necessary to be prepared against disasters. One of the main problems after a disaster is the need for emergency shelter. In this situation, temporary shelter units should be used. Generally, tents are used as emergency shelter units after the disaster. Tents are one of the most popular portable structures. It was observed that the tents used could not completely meet the needs during the transition to permanent housing. Portable structures that can answer the needs of disaster victims have been analysed. In this framework, pneumatic systems were preferred considering the existing advantages among the building systems examined. Pneumatic systems are not widely used for emergency shelter in our country. However, international examples have been reached. In the first step of this study, the advantages and disadvantages of the pneumatic system have been revealed through the data obtained by literature research. Then, a design proposal called Emergency balloon was developed to improve the current situation. The presented design proposal aims to offer a solution proposal in the context of material usage, modularity, safety and functionality. Keywords: Disaster, Earthquake, Temporary Building, Portable Structures, Pneumatic Systems, Design
