Özet (EN)

Depressive Disorder and Anxiety Disorder are also among the most common psychiatric illnesses. Antidepressants have an important place in the treatment of these disorders that reduce the quality of life. Studies have shown that various side effects may occur due to the increasing frequency of use of antidepressants. The aim of this thesis study is to investigate the determination of pancreatic beta cell reserve and its relation with metabolic markers in patients with depressive disorder or anxiety disorder who are currently using antidepressant drugs, and to highlight early markers before the development of prediabetes, diabetes and MS in this patient population. Sixty patients who applied to the psychiatry outpatient clinic and whose active treatment continues were included in the study. The healthy control group, consisting of 60 people, was composed of people who applied to the endocrinology outpatient clinic for routine check-up and had no medical illness. Chi-square analysis (Pearson Chi-square), Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, student t-test, Mann Whitney-U test, Spearman Correlation test were used in data analysis. SPSS 22 package program was used to analyze the data. Significance value was taken as p≤ 0.05. The weight, BMI, waist circumference, neck circumference, hip circumference values of the case group were found to be significantly higher than the control group (p <0.05). HOMA-IR, insulin, C-peptide values of the case group were found to be significantly higher than the control group (p <0.05). However, there was no significant difference between the case and control groups in terms of FPG and HbA1c values (p> 0.05). The T. cholesterol and LDL values of the case group were significantly higher than the control group. However, no significant difference was found in terms of HDL, TG, VLDL. Heart rate of the case group was found to be significantly higher than the control group (p <0.001). In the correlation analysis, a positive significant relationship was found between weight and BMI, waist circumference, waist / neck, waist / hip, insulin and C-peptide. As a result; Significant increase in metabolic markers was found in most of the patients with depressive disorder or anxiety disorder who were under active treatment. We believe that close monitoring of cases with high risk factors in terms of obesity, insulin resistance, hyperlipidemia, prediabetes and diabetes will be beneficial.
