The investigation of automatic thoughts in relation between depression and early maladapti̇ve schemas

This study aims to investigate the features of automatic thoughts in relation between depression and early maladaptive schemas. The Brief Symptom Inventory, Young Schema Questionnaire and Automatic Thoughts Questionnaire were administered to randomly chosen 204 volunteer participants on the internet. Personal Information Form has also been used to determine the socio-demographic characteristics. In the first step of the study, participants' depression scores were compared with the scores of early schemas. It has been concluded that early schemas without the unrelenting standarts and punitiveness schemas have positive moderate relationship with depression. In the second step of study, schema areas related with depression and automatic thoughts have been compared. The effects of the schemas on automatic thoughts have been discussed in the relevant literature.
