Abstract (EN)
This present study investigated a sample of 95 high school learners' perceptions of self-concept and their use of language learning strategies in high schools in Osmaniye in 2014-2015 academic year. The aim of the study was to explore the learners' perceptions of self-concept and their use of learning strategies in order to find out the relationship between the learners' perceptions of self-concept and their use of language learning strategies. The current study gained data by means of quantitative research methods. The quantitative data was gathered through Personal and Academic Self-Concept Inventory (PASCI) (Fleming & Whalen, 1990) and Strategy Inventory for Language Learning (SILL) (Oxford, 1990). Descriptive analyses and Pearson correlation r were computed to analyze the data via Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20.This study revealed that the participants use language learning strategies at a medium level. Also, the participants reported that they use metacognitive strategies most frequently. Additionally, no significant differences were found between the uses of subgroups of self-concept. Finally, as to Pearson r correlation coefficient there was a weak correlation between self-concept and language learning strategies.
