Abstract (EN)
This research aimed to determine the use of music in kindergarten classes providing pre-school education in public schools. Descriptive research design was used in the research. The study group of the research consists of 6 preschool teachers randomly selected from 6 kindergarten classes affiliated with 3 public schools in Burdur city center. As a data collection tool, a diary was kept for observation purposes and a semi-structured interview form was applied to preschool teachers. Content analysis was used to analyze the data. As a result of the coding made by three experts whose opinions were consulted during the content analysis process, a total of 21 main themes and 36 details were created. In the reliability analysis conducted for 21 main themes, P = 90.4% was calculated. In the reliability analysis performed for a total of 36 details, P was calculated as 86.1%. In the total reliability analysis of themes and details, P was calculated as 87.7%. Observation and interview data were examined and the findings were presented in tables. According to the findings of the research, it was concluded that preschool teachers considered themselves sufficient in rhythm studies, but inadequate in playing instruments. It has been determined that teachers think that music education has positive contributions to children's development areas. It was concluded that the music course taken by preschool teachers in the undergraduate program was not effective and was not taught in accordance with its content, and that they needed in-service training on music education. According to the results of the interviews regarding the instruments used, it was determined that they mostly used rhythm instruments, and according to the observation results, they used only body percussion and maracas. The areas where music was most frequently used were determined as free play time, acquisition-concept teaching and toy collection.
