Devletoğlu Yusuf`s Traslation of Vigaye (linguistic analysis-text-index)

This study is a linguistic analysis of the translated edition of Viqayeh by Devletoglu Yûsuf written in 828 H. (1428 A.D.). By study such as work which has been known as Old Anatolian Turkish, it intends to be a contribute to history of Turkish language and literature. Two previous studies which have been done up to now are worth mentioning. One of them is a transcription based ön only one copy of the book with a special vocabulary and the other is a study aiming at introducing the topics taken up in the work with commentaries on tha characteristics of its language and style. No other study has been done as to linguistic or comperative text analysis or a compilation of index. However, a number of researchers pointed out its significance in matters of linguistic and literary features which encouraged us to make a re-evaluation of the work from these points of view. Our research is composed of three main chapters besides of introduction. The introduction is concerned whith the life of Devletoğlu Yûsuf, the subject matters and meter used in his poetry, together with the introduction of other handwritten versions of his work with reference to other translated editions and the investigations which have been carried out so far. Chapter One deals with a detailed text analysis in respect of gramatical points such as phonology, morphology an syntax accommpanied by several examples taken from the text. Chapter Two is based mainly on e new text made up of three copies of the work available at various libraries in Istanbul. In this chapter, are eliminated all of differencies in detail between the main copy of the work and the other two copies. The textual body of the present study was written with the most common transcription alphabet used in Turkey. Chapter Three consists of indexes of the words with their meanings used in the book. The alphabetical index of the words is followed by statistical data showing the types word used in the text. Beside Index, the terms with related to Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) have been demonstrated under heading List ofFiqh Terms in a mass. But numbers of distiches in the text havent been demonstrated under this heading.
