Iranian foreign policy towards persian Gulf region after the Islamic Revolution

Iran's geographical location in the Middle East makes it one of the key players in the region. Iran has a rich culture and land with a long history of government which makes Iran one of the most powerful regional players. If we look at the early history of Iran, it can be witnessed that despite all conflicts between Islamic Republic of Iran and western world it had a good relationship with the western world during Pahlavi Dynasty ruling in the country. With the Islamic Revolution, Iran went through a deep constructional changes that suddenly cut off the relationship between Iran and West. This article analyses Iran's Foreign Policy toward its neighboring Arab Gulf countries. The article is separated in three main parts. The first part analyses İran's foreign policy strategies and principles, second part İran's relations with the Gulf countries and political structure of those countries, third part analyses Iran's foreign policy toward Gulf region as a whole. This article also includes some interviews which were taken in two countries Iran and Iraq. Generally original materials in Persian and English are used but statistics are generally taken from reliable Turkish sources like Turkish Foreign Ministry website etc.
