Abstract (EN)
In this study, monthly ovary development of Acanthobrama marmid Heckel, 1843 living in the Tigris River was investigated as histologically. During oogenesis, five different development phases were histologically determined: chromatin- nucleolus, perinuclear, cortical alveolar, vitellogenic and ripening phases. The diameters of oocytes were determined between 114 to 932 µm until the ovulation phase. According to the investigated sepcimens, vitellogenic phase started onward September and ovulation was taken place in May and June. It was found that some unspawned ova remained and formed atretic follicles in ovary after ovulation.
