Abstract (EN)
Social media applications are one of the newest digital environments where self presentations are made. Social media changes the self and self presentations with its unique features and different uses of users.In this study, it is aimed to investigate how people born in 1980 and previous years, named as digital immigrants, form their self on Facebook.com and the relationship between the self-presentation tactics they use and their social media profiles. The sample group of the research consists of 300 digital immigrants who are Facebook users. SPSS 25.0 statistical program was used to evaluate the data obtained from the research and results were generated at 95% confidence interval and the significance level was determined as p <0.05. The conceptual framework of the study was formed by the dramaturgical theory and impression management concept developed by Erving Goffman. Data were collected and analyzed using Facebook usage scale, modified self-presentation scale and Facebook profile analysis method. As a result of the study, it was seen that digital immigrants formed their online selves based on their offline selves and used self-presentation tactics in Facebook profile areas.
