Posthuman in the age of digital communication: Memory of the body

This thesis aims to examine the concept of the posthuman in the digital communication age through the body, focusing on the relationship the body establishes with memory and how this relationship is transformed through digital technologies. The study assumes that the body is not merely a biological entity, but also a medium in which past experiences are stored, rewritten, and carried as emotional and sensory memory. Through a literature review conducted within the framework of phenomenological methodology and neuroscientific approaches, the thesis analyzes how the body is redefined in a digitized society and how memory is affected in this context. The concepts of transhumanism and posthumanism are evaluated within the context of communication sciences. The thesis investigates how digital technologies transform the body–memory relationship and discusses how digital interventions in the body reshape social experience and the construction of meaning. By addressing the changing condition of the body and memory in the context of digital technologies, the study also seeks to reconsider concepts such as identity, belonging, and sociality in the digital age. This thesis aims to make a theoretical contribution to the field of communication by focusing on the axis of the posthuman body and memory.
