Abstract (EN)

For a long time, texts were presented to individuals by visuality. Illustration is a widely used limning technique to describe texts or ideas and also a powerful visual expression tool at the same time. Illustration, creating visual solutions in the field of publicity and advertising, is commonly adopted. Additionally, the illustration is a powerful form of art which is lively and constantly developing now. This ancient medium with its rich history is a dynamic and contemporary communication tool which can create images and messages in every field. Being familiar with the terms used in the field of illustration will contribute to better shaping and clarifying of ideas. The main purpose of the technique of illustration, which is used in primary school books, newspapers, magazines and many more fields, is to provide the memorization of long and educative texts on the visual memory. In this study, the topics of the technique of illustration and its varieties, the importance of illustration, the historical development of illustration, how legends were visualized with the technique of illustration and what to pay attention to while exercising illustration were addressed. The sample of the study, which possesses a quality of practicing a legend with the technique of digital illustration, was prepared by considering the Elazığ Çayda Çıra legend. The results and suggestions were presented about the application process for digital illustration by taking the findings acquired from the literature search into account. Moreover, the study was prepared with the aims of emphasizing the importance of illustration and both shed a light and create a resource for future studies.
