Construction of popular science authorship in the context of digital publishing and early youth works: TÜBİTAK science youth case

The aim of the research is to examine popular science writing in the context of youth works and digital publishing. For this purpose, the articles, videos, etc. published on the website of Bilim Genç publication, which can be accessed through the web address of TÜBİTAK and social networks. By examining the contents, digital publishing, digital magazines, etc. with the literature review method. The concepts and related topics were examined. It has been seen that the studies conducted specifically for this publication are insufficient. Content in the journal; "Popular Science, Question and Answer, Design and Build, Earth, Astronomy, Experiments, Science Cartoon, Bilm Genç TV, Audio Broadcasting, Competitions and Did You Know?" organized under ten sections. These sections are frequently updated. As can be seen, especially in recent years, departments are prepared by a team of approximately 10 people consisting of teachers and researchers. But from time to time, different researchers also contributed to the content. In the study, these sections were handled and examined as separate titles. In each of the aforementioned sections, scientific and technological issues are conveyed in a language that children and young people can easily understand, and visual materials that support the intelligibility of the subject are used. In the content designed as multimedia; audio broadcasting and video narration, hands-on narration of experiment and design studies, interviews and participation of guests who are experts in their fields are important factors that increase interaction. In the examinations, it has been determined that the content of the magazine is arranged according to the age group it addresses, it encourages children to question, research and do scientific studies, and increases the sense of scientific curiosity. However, when it is examined in terms of page layout, it is difficult to reach the old-dated content in the magazine. In addition, it has been seen that the content of the publication is concentrated on the field of science and technology, and the field of social sciences is given little place. In today's world, where information is constantly developing and changing, it is very important to keep track of scientific developments. It is very useful to follow interesting popular science articles and contents and information through "TÜBİTAK Bilim Genç". Magazines, such as Bilim Genç, that publish magazines on the internet and offer educational content to their readers, make the learning processes of children and young people quite enjoyable. In this way, children can have very practical and easy access to the information they want from any environment with internet access.
