Abstract (EN)
The Turcology studies have not dwelt much on the archaism of the language within theoretical terms while such studies have investigated a dialect of a certain region within the scope of archaism with its all dimensions. In our study, theoretical components have been considered in detail; the exact definition of archaism has been elaborated while it has also investigated the phonetical, morphological and semantical archaism in Iraqi Turkmen dialects. The term archaism has clearly been defined and the evolutionary nature of the language has been placed in the core of the study. Thus, which never-changing components of language would be classified as archaic through which criteria has been clarified. Upon the thorough definition of the archaism, the Iraqi Turkmen dialects have been investigated within the framework of archaism. During the study, scripts, grammar resources, dictionaries and several resources and articles regarding archaism have primarily been used. Besides written sources, interviews with locals, intellectuals and language experts have been conducted so that the term archaism would be investigated in greater detail. The phonetics section of the study involves the study of the sounds and sound events in theIraqi Turkmen dialects. The archaic phonetical components have been determined in these dialects. In the morphology section of the study, the archaism of the derivational and inflectional morphemes has been investigated while the functional archaism in these morphemes have been tried to set. The semantics section of the study involves the investigation of which words and their certain meanings could be considered archaic. In our study, we have also looked at the evolution of each language component within the historical eras of Turkish language through a diachronic approach while synchronous method has helped draw certain conclusions regarding the archaism of the language components through comparisons and contrasts among various dialects of Turkish language.
