A distant implementation of inset: A teacher training platform for contextual grammar teaching

This study has described and revealed teacher cognition of teaching grammar extensively; it has suggested courses of action to transfer this dimension in language teaching to be exploited in INSET applications. In other words, the study has combined two distinct fields, providing a bridge between grammar teaching and professional development. Mixed methods research paradigm has been used to describe the teacher cognition of teaching grammar. According to the findings of qualitative and quantitative research, it has been observed that the great majority of the teachers teach grammar in their courses, and employ inductive grammar teaching techniques. Distant INSET as the complementary tool to central INSET implementation has been used to provide a collaborative environment for teaching tips of contextual grammar. Modular Object Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment (Moodle) has been used for the implementation. Further studies to be grounded on this study will give better and more comprehensive results.
