Sign of the zodiac in collected poems

This study is carried out to find signs of Zodiac and statistics of the usage of horoscopes' names and to make inferences of the thoughts of poets about horoscopes examining poems of Divan poets. In this study, one hundred twenty-five Divans are scanned and chosen samples of the poems/couplets are studied. The word, sign of Zodiac and its parts we encounter in the couplets are tried to be found by taking into account both the frequency of usage of these words by the poets and the positions of the usage of those in the poems. Beside the couplets consisting of the word, sign of Zodiac and its parts we think have a relation with horoscopes are explicated with both similar and different sides individually and a variety of determinations are found on the usage of signs of Zodiac in Divans. Also the usage of signs of Zodiac in Divan poetry during the centuries, the changes gone through if they have and so new acquired meanings are searched. While the subject is the word, sign of Zodiac and its parts in terms of astrology; it is seen that the word, sign fo Zodiac is sometimes used in different meanings in the poems. But for the reason that we think some of these usages are related to the word, sign of Zodiac in terms of astrology; a part of this study contains those different usages.
