Abstract (EN)

Mahmut of Kashgar composed his work The Diwan Lughat at-Turk so as to teach Turkish to Arabs. According to his expression, he took the words used only in those days. He said he chose that method because he wanted to make his work more useful. In his work, which is a Turkish-Arabic dictionary, he used the Arabic that was the language of his target group. He used the words in the sentences when they were necessary. We can easily say that he successfully fulfilled this in the name of Turkish Culture.In this study, we aimed to find the military and the administrative terms in The Diwan Lughat at-Turk and to give the details about the subject by examining the cognitive and semantic developments of these words over timein accordance with the historical perspective. We examined administrative titles and terms and military titles and terms separately. As a result of our review, we felt that the terms, which we found in the work and considered, maintained their splendor in terms of organizational history and the continuity of institutions in Turks States. We saw many similar terms that are used today.Key words: Mahmut of Kashgar, The Diwan Lughat at-Turk, military-administrative terms.
