Abstract (EN)

Diabetes, as one of the global diseases, is of great importance because of its many comorbidities and complications. The rate of mood disorders in people with diabetes is much higher than in the general population. Nutrition is the most important component in order to provide glycemic control and maintain physical and mental well-being. The aim of the study is to determine the relationship between nutritional status and depression, anxiety, and stress. Anthropometric and sociodemographic information, 24-hour dietary recall records, and Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale data were obtained through an online questionnaire from a total of 103 diabetic participants. In the study, no statistically significant difference was found between diet quality and depression, anxiety, and stress levels, but it was observed that low protein and high fat intakes were associated with severe depression. More studies are needed to clarify the effects of diet quality and food groups on mood disorders in individuals with diabetes.
