The effect of PRP on ovary and endometrium in diabetic rat model

OBJECTIVE: In this study, it was aimed to investigate the therapeutic and protective effects of PRP treatment on the ovary and endometrium by examining the microvascular damage and fibrosis-forming effect of diabetes mellitus on AMH, VEGF, TGF, Pentraxin-3. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In our study, an experimental diabetes model was created on rats by means of STZ. The fibrosis effect of diabetes was examined by histopathological methods, histochemical staining and biochemically by means of certain markers. The effect of PRP treatment was examined on endometrium, ovary and blood samples. The difference between the obtained findings and the groups was evaluated statistically. RESULTS: It was determined that diabetes induces atretic follicles in the ovary, decreases ovarian reserve, increases fibrosis in the endometrium, disrupts epithelial integrity, and decreases angiogenesis. AMH levels increased significantly in the PRP group compared to the other groups, both intrauterine and intraovarian, although VEGF levels increased, significant difference was not found. Despite the fact that, TGF levels decreased biochemically and intraovarian in the treated group, no endometrial increase was detected. Although PTX3 level decreased in utero, no significant difference was found in terms of biochemical and intraovarian. CONCLUSION: It was found that ovarian reserve and endometrial thickness increased after PRP treatment, while fibrosis decreased. PRP may be promising as a supplement to conventional treatments in the obstetrics clinic. KEYWORDS: PRP, Diabetes Mellitus, TGFb, AMH, VEGF, PENTRAXIN-3
