Abstract (EN)
The current study was conducted through November 2020 to April 2021 for determining the relationship between soil seed bank density and germination of prevalent weed species in wheat fields of Diyarbakır province. A total 106 soil samples were taken from 0-15 cm depth and 1/8 m² width from 2 farmer wheat fields and 1 uncultivated field situated in Bismil and Sur districts in Diyarbakır province. Soil samples from Bismil district were taken before and after plowing. The seed bank in Bismil district belonged to 8 families and 8 different weed species. The most prevalent weed species were; Alhagi maurorum Medik. (22.8 seeds/m²), Apera spica-venti (L.) P.B (22.04 seed/m²), Amaranthus retroflexus L. (14.93) and Papaver spp. (11.02 seeds/m²). The samples from Sur district were taken only after plowing. The seed bank in the Sur district belonged to 10 families and 12 weed species. The most prevalent weed species in the Sur district were; Galium tricornutum Dandy (168 seeds/m²) and Sinapis arvenses L. (82.4) (seeds/m²). Field surveys were also conducted in the wheat cultivated sampling fields. A total 33 different weed species belonging to 17 plant families were recorded from Bismil district during survey. The most prevalent weed species of these were; G. tricornutum (17.75 plants/m²), Festuca rubra L. (15.25 plants/m²), Sinapis arvensis L. (14.25 plants/m² ) and Aristolochia maurorum L. (13.5 plants/m²). The survey conducted in Sur district identified 17 weed species belonging to 10 botanical families. The most frequently observed species with the highest density in the Sur district were; G. tricornutum (95.7 plants/ m²) and Galium aparine L. (22.5 plants/m² ).
