Determination of grain and green grass yields and some technological quality features of main product corn varieties in diyarbakir conditions

Corn is of great importance in the production of essential foodstuffs for people in the world and Turkey. Corn grain, primarily protein, starch, glucose and corn oil, occupies an important place in terms of raw materials in industry and economic market conditions. Kilowatt, Champ, DKC7240, BT6470F1, Hammer, Ranger, Hido, Everest, DKC6777 and PR31G98 corn varieties grown in the 2022 main crop corn production season at Dicle University Faculty of Agriculture Trial Area. Corn quality characteristics were evaluated in the laboratories of GAP Agricultural Research Institute and Private Starch Enterprise. In this study conducted; Average plant height of 10 corn varieties is ( 222.07 cm), the highest plant height is in the Kilowatt variety (245.87 cm), the lowest is in the PR31G98 variety (211.40 cm), the average cob height is (102.85 cm), the highest cob height is in the HIDO variety (114,67 cm), lowest in DKC6777 variety (88.00 cm), average stem thickness (2.51 cm), highest stem thickness in CHAMP variety (2.78 cm), lowest in PR31G98 variety (2.36 cm), cob length average is (19.20 cm), the average of the cob thickness is (3.95 cm), the average of the tassel removal time is (71.13 days), the highest in the DKC7240 variety (73.67 days), the lowest in the RANGER variety (68.00 days), the number of cobs per plant average of (1.07), average grain/cob weight ratio (75.67%), highest grain/cob ratio in PR31G98 variety (86.05%), lowest in CHAMP variety (63.63%), average plant moisture rate at harvest (13,13%), the highest moisture rate is in the RANGER variety (13.93%), the lowest in the HAMMER variety (12.13%), the average grain yield per unit area is (872.05 kg/da ) and the highest in the Ranger variety (1364.71 kg/da ), lowest in the HIDO variety (471.33 kg/da ), green grass yield average is (6.846.40 kg/da ), highest green grass yield is in the RANGER variety (7853.67 kg/da ), lowest in the PR31G98 variety (5833.00 kg/da ). Crude protein average is (10.00%), highest in Hammer variety (11.63%), lowest in Everest variety (8.77%), Crude oil average is (3.52%), highest in Champ variety is (4,40%), the lowest in the DKC6777 variety (2.63%), the average of the varieties in terms of starch rate is (61.15%), the highest in the PR31G98 variety (62.63%), the lowest in the DKC6777 variety (59.09%), the average Hectolitre Weight is (77, 91 kg), the highest in the Champ variety (82.23 kg), the lowest in the BT6470F1 variety (72.43 kg),the average thousand grain weight is (265.48 g), the highest in the Ranger variety (384.30 g) and the lowest in the DKC6777 variety (210.01 g). As a result of the research, it was concluded that the RANGER variety can be recommended for the regional conditions in terms of both grain yield per unit area and green grass yield per decare in the cultivation of main crop corn in the ecological conditions of the Southeastern Anatolia Region.
