An investigation of the herb species, compositions and herb yield in the Pirinçlik garrison in Diyarbakır

This study was conducted during the spring of 1999 at the grassland which protected for 30 years İn Pirinçlik Garrison in Diyarbakır and a nearby village grassland which grazed for a long time. Objective of the study is to compare protected and grazed areas to determine what beneficial effects happened with the protection. According to the results of this research; in protected area, dried and fresh herbage yields, percentages of foliage cover, height and the number of the herb families and species were found significiantly more than grazed area. While the family groups were examined with their rates, legumes significiantly decreased, gramines decreased too, but not as much as legumes and the other families increased in grazed area.
