History and writings of Diyarbakır (Between the VII. and XVI. centuries)

The city of Diyarbakır (Amid) was one of the most important cities of the Islamic world between the VII th and XVI th centuries. Many states ruled in this city between these centuries. The states that ruled here enabled the city to gain an important position in the Islamic world in the Middle Ages with their reconstruction and cultural activities. In addition, the fact that the city of Diyarbakır was located at the junction of trade routes enabled the city to develop commercially and economically and attracted the attention of many states due to its location on a transit route between Iran, Iraq, the Mediterranean and the Black Sea. The general aim of this study is to reveal the contributions of the states that ruled in the region between the VII th and XVI th centuries (Byzantine Empire, Abbasids, Hamdanids, Büveyhoğulları, Marwanids, Seljuks, İnaloğulları, Nisanoğulları, Artukoğulları, Eyyubids, Anatolian Seljuks, Timurids, Akkoyunlular) to the city of Diyarbakır and its development and history. In addition, our study aims to examine the city's political and economic situation, social life, scientific and cultural activities, and the architectural works built by the rulers and rulers of the ruling states between the centuries we mentioned, and to be familiar with this period in the light of the data and information we have obtained. Our study titled Diyarbakır History and Inscriptions (VII. and XVI. Centuries) consists of two parts. In the first part, after giving information about the name and geography of the city of Diyarbakır, we will explain the political history of the city of Diyarbakır before and after the Islamic conquest. In the second part, we will describe all kinds of economic, social and cultural activities of Diyarbakır between the VIIth and XVIth centuries and examine the architectural works built here. This study analyzes the historical adventure of the city of Diyarbakır between the centuries we have mentioned and tries to reveal the importance of this city in terms of its location and its contributions to the geography in terms of city history.
