The research of the potentialities of organical agriculture in rice farming in Diyarbakır area

Recently, organic agriculture has expanded rapidly in the world. Although, Turkey has suitable ecologic conditions and export potential for organic production, the share of Turkish organic products in the world market is significantly low. Due to the stony fields, in the most of the Karacadağ Region?s lands and it has been cultivated rice once in 2-7 year in the same field, hence the region hasn?t been polluted by using synthetic or chemical fertilizers. This Project will be performed in an effort to the determination of the possibility of organical rice agriculture and be a model for farmers in the course of the organical farming transit in Diyarbakır province in 2011 growing season using as materials of Karacadağ local variety and Osmancık-97 breeding cultivar in the conventional and organical agriculture conditions.As the result of research, the number of days blooming, the number of days maturity, the number of tiller per plant, the number of grain per panicle and grain weight in a panicle in organical agriculture treatments showed superior values according to conventional agriculture treatments, but plant height and the number of panicle in meter square of organical treatments falled behind of conventional treatments.Treatment and cultivar interactions of unit area grain yield were found significant statistically and the highest grain yield (5433.3 kg/ha) was obtained from Karacadağ rice variety in organical treatment.Karacadağ varieties showed the highest values in all characteristics observing, except for thousand grain weight. With using of Karacadağ varieties in organical agriculture, in region organical rice cultivation can be expanded prevalently.Key Words: Organic rice, rice cultivation, organic cultivation, yield and yield components.
