Examination of the level of communication skills of nature sports trainers perceived by nature sports athletes

Abstract (EN)

Purpose and Method of the Research; In this study, which aims to examine the effective communication skill levels of outdoor sports trainers, a descriptive scanning model was used. The universe of the research is aimed to examine the effective communication levels perceived by the athletes of nature sports trainers in the province of Rize in the Eastern Black Sea region. A total of 153 participants, 124 men and 29 women, are athletes doing nature sports (Rafting, Canoeing, Mountaineering, Skiing, Trekking) in Rize. As a data collection tool in research; Yılmaz İ. The "Effective Communication Skills Scale of Antennas" (2008), which consists of 48 items, was used. Statistically, the data was tested for normality (Shapiro Wilks) first and it was seen that the data had a normal distribution. The distribution percentages of the athletes were determined by the Descriptive Statistic. T-Test was performed for two independent groups at α = 0.05 significance level in comparison of communication scores of athletes depending on gender and sportsmanship level. One-way Anova (One Way Anova) test was applied at α = 0.05 significance level, depending on the age, education level, sport branch, team type, the year of doing sports, the number of training per week, the duration of working with the same trainer, the educational status of the father and the education status of the mother . When looking at the statistical test results obtained from the study, according to gender factor (t151; 0.177; p> 0.05), sportsmanship level (t151; 2.755; p> 0.05), age (F3.152; 2.139; P> 0.05), education level (F2, 152; 1.390; P> 0.05) team type (F3,152; 1,023; P> 0.05), year of sports (F3,152; 0,174; P> 0.05) weekly training number (F 3,152; 1.514; P> 0.05), Depending on the duration of working with the same trainer (F 4.152; 2.295; P> 0.05), father's educational status (F 3.152; 0.107; P> 0.05), and the mother's education status (F 2.152; 0.500; P> 0.05), extreme sports athletes' communication skills There was no significant difference between the scores, but a statistically significant difference was found according to the sport branch (P <0.05). As a result, it was determined that all of the trainers of extreme sports athletes have effective and high level communication skills, and communication skills increase with the number of weekly training sessions.
