Abstract (EN)
Arsenic, as known is a water pollutant due to the dissolution of arsenic containing minerals in natural water. High concentrations of arsenic in subterranean waters threatens human health. Arsenic compounds used in several industries. Resultant wastes which are drained to reciever medium causes serious pollution problems and collected in hair, nails, and inner organs via food chain. Finally this causes lots of health problems like lung, skin, kidney, bladder cancers or skin pigmentation. This is why the 50 ppb drinkking water limit is decreased to 10 ppb by WHO and US-EPA.In this work, the aim is the removal of As(III) by natural materials named as waste and lime (CaO). Towards this aim corncobi pine cones, olive pomas and lime (CaO) is used as absorbants. Absorbsion trials apllied as intemittent way and the contact time, pH, temperature, As(III) concentration parameters are worked. As(III) concentration which residued in the solution without absorbed is measured with AAS in N2O acetilen flame.Corncobs, pine cones and olive pomas didn?t show any noticible result at the absorbtion of As (III). However the absorbtion capacity of lime (Cao) is measured as 36,5389 mg As(III) / g lime (CaO) in 1 hour, 20 oC and 12.3 pH.For ion absorbtion of As(III) on lime (CaO) Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms lines were plotted. The absorbsion of As(III) ion with lime (CaO) fits better on Langmuir model. Langmuir model is a theoric model which assumes that definite number of active centers permits single plane absorbtion and surface is fully saturated at a definite absorbed concentration on absorbant surface.
