Abstract (EN)
Sports scheduling has become an important topic of research in recent years. The decision to assign which teams to play in which venue and at which time is fundamental to the general welfare of everyone involved. This calls for fairness during scheduling of games while considering factors that influence those schedules. This thesis determines an optimal schedule that yields a fair distribution of games among teams over the course of a season. The goal is to ensure that the distributions track as close as possible to the ideal match day distribution for participating teams. Deviations for weekly fixtures are calculated and compared to the schedules by the Turkish Football Federation. The problem is formulated as a non-linear binary integer programming and solved with AMPL. Results demonstrate that the TFF schedules can be significantly improved by implementing the model.
