ABSTRACT In Turkey, consumption of fruit and vegetable is varied by seasons, generally the level of demands to fruit and vegetable is high. There are four main factors affecting the demands of fresh vegetable which are, increase in population, understanding importance of fresh fruit and vegetable in nourishment, improvements in exports and raising of in come. It can be said (declared) that annual consumption of vegetable is increased as 10 to 1 5 percent by the effects of those factors. As a result of increased demand, prices of vegetables are increased and these encourage more production and development of planting areas. Because of the high prices, producers are forced (pushed) for sowing in extra seasons. This extra - production, leads to the improvement of the controlled medium which is called greenhouse for growing plants. In this study the development possibilities of greenhouses was investigated by determining the construction aspects of greenhouse designed for east Mediterranean.
