Abstract (EN)

The end of the First World War and the signing of the Armistice of Mudros on October 30, 1918 by the Ottoman Empire, one of the defeated parties in the war, brought along a number of new developments in the east and southeast of the state. Especially England's occupation of Mosul right after the armistice has heralded a new political, strategic and economic order in the region. Every step taken by the British in order to establish a new order and to consolidate this order has brought with it new problems that will shape the future of the region. England, which exhibited an invading policy from Mosul towards Southeast Anatolia, at this point, exhibited various policies in order to use the tribal structure, which is the social and political power in the region, in line with its own interests. This thesis examines the roles of the tribes in the region in the period of armistice between 1918-1922 within the framework of British policies. After the Armistice of Mudros, against the efforts of the British to acquire the tribes, with the policy of the Ottoman State; the attitude of the tribes towards the Ottoman Empire, their approach to the National Struggle and their role in the Kurdish independence movements were also tried to be determined.
