Investigation of servant leadership perceptions of individuals working in ministry of youth and sports provincial directorates in The Eastern Black Sea Region

The purpose of this study is to determine the perception of the servant leadership behavior of the managers of the individuals working in the Ministry of Youth and Sports provincial directorates, and try to understand which demographic characteristics are affected by these perceptions. The study group of the research; 552 personnel working in the provinces of Rize, Trabzon, Artvin, Ordu, Gümüşhane, Giresun and Bayburt in the Eastern Black Sea Region, determined by simple random sampling method. Personal information form prepared by the researcher in order to obtain information such as age, gender, marital status, educational status, field of graduation, active working year, title, city of duty and how many years of work in the Ministry of Youth and Sports as data collection tools were used. In the second part, The Servant Leadership Questionnaire, developed by Barbuto and Wheeler (2006); Turkish validity and reliability designed by Altınok (2015) was used. Descriptive statistics, frequency and percentage distributions were made to determine the general characteristics of the data. As statistical tests, first of all, skewness and kurtosis coefficients of all sub-dimensions were examined, MANOVA analysis was used by checking the homogeneity of the covariance matrix. In addition, Pearson correlation analysis was used to test the continuous variable hypothesis tests. Windows SPSS 24 statistics program was used to test the statistical tests. According to the analysis, the marital status of the participants, their age, educational status, whether they graduated from physical education and sports schools or sports sciences faculties or not, their titles, active working years, the cities, and the total working years in the Ministry of Youth and Sports were found significant differences in their perception of servant leadership levels. No significant difference was found in terms of the gender of the participants.
