Abstract (EN)

INVESTIGATION OF MATERNAL ATTACHMENT RELATIONSHIP WITH MATERNAL FUNCTION OF WOMEN IN POSTPARTUM PERIOD Objective: The aim of the present study is to investigate the relationship between maternal attachment and maternal functions of women in postpartum period. Method: The study was carried out in 35 th and 3 rd. Family Health Centers located in Antalya city center between 10 May and 15 November 2017 with the highest number of annual births. The study's universe consisted of 250 mothers between the ages of 18 and 45, who had a baby at the postpartum the week 8-11 weeks. Mother identifying information form, the Barkin Index of Maternal Function and Maternal Attachment Inventory were used as data collection tools. In the analysis of the data, number, percentage, arithmetic mean, one-factor variance analysis, Kruskal-Wallis H test, T test for independent groups, Mann-Whitney U test, point double-column correlation analysis, Spearman Brown Row Correlation Analysis, Pearson Moments Multiplication Correlation Analysis and Simple Linear Regression Analysis were used. Results: The mean score of the Barkin Index of Maternal Function was 76.97 ± 10.19 and the mean score of the Maternal Attachment Inventory was 100.92 ± 3.17. There was a positive, low, and significant relationship between maternal attachment and maternal function (r=0.22, p= 0.00). There was a positive and low correlation between type of delivery and maternal function (r= 0.11). It has been determined that there is a close relationship between the type of delivery and maternal attachment (r= 0.01). Conclusion: A significant relationship between maternal attachment and functional status was determined at the end of the study. The subscales of maternal function and maternal attachment were found to be significantly related. Although there is a relationship between the type of delivery and functional status and maternal attachment, vaginal birth has not been differentiated.
