Women's support levels, sleep quality, perceptions about the baby and determination of the affecting factors in the postpartum period

This study, which will be conducted descriptively, aims to identify women's support levels, sleep quality, perceptions about the baby, and the affecting factors in the postpartum period. The study will be conducted in the postpartum period with primipara women who apply to Seyhan Public Hospital, Marsa Maternity and Children Hospital Additional Service Building between the 1st of April and 1st of July, 2020 and give birth there. The target population of the study will be women who apply to the related hospital and who give birth for the first time. The number of deliveries in the related hospital was 1333 yearly between the 1st of April and the 1st of July, 2020. It is assumed that a similar number of women will apply to the hospital, so sample calculation was performed using simple random sampling with a 95% confidence interval and p<0.05 significance level. As a result of the sample calculation, it is planned that 308 primipara women will be reached in the postpartum period. The study will include mothers who volunteer to participate in the study, who are in the postpartum period, who have term delivery, who give birth for the first time and have a healthy baby, and who are open to cooperation and communication. Women who have had a risky pregnancy and who do not speak Turkish will be excluded. Data will be collected through the "Socio-demographic Form, "Postpartum Period Support Scale", "Postpartum Sleep Quality Scale", and " Neonatal Perception Inventory". Data will be collected through face-to-face and telephone interviews. Data analysis will be performed using the IBM SPSS Statistics 22.0 program. Statistical significance will be taken 0.05. The study plans to identify the support level, sleep quality, perceptions about baby, and the affecting factors among women in the postpartum period who give birth for the first time. In conclusion, it is believed that the study will contribute to the protection of the health of the mother, baby, family, and society.
