Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted out to determine the obstetric violence status of women who gave birth and the affecting factors. This descriptive study included 200 women who had a vaginal delivery in a state hospital in the southern part of Turkey. Data were collected with Personal Information Form, Birth Characteristics Information Form and Obstetric Violence Diagnosis Form. Descriptive statistics and chi-square tests were used in the analysis of the data. p<0.05 value was considered statistically significant. In the study, it was determined that 25.5% of the women who gave vaginal birth were exposed to verbal violence, 37.2% to psycho-emotional violence and all to physical violence. It was determined that women perceived the negative verbal and psycho-emotional behaviors they experienced as violence, but they did not perceive most of the physical attempts as violence. A statistically significant difference was found only between the place of residence and the type of obstetric violence among the sociodemographic characteristics of women (p<0.05). A statistically significant difference was found between the women's obstetric characteristics only before they were given birth information and their exposure to verbal obstetric violence (p<0.05). It was determined that 42.5% of the women were less satisfied with the intrapartum period. In the study, it was determined that women were exposed to obstetric violence and their intrapartum period satisfaction rates were low.
