Organizational buying behavior of the dry bulk carriers: The application in Turkey

Purchasing behavior is the main function of the economy after bartering that mankind uses for to maintain its needs. From the beginning of the twentieth century, purchasing subjected to theoretical researches and has shifted its meaning from ?maintaining the needs? to searching and determining for right sources, choosing right materials or services. With this shift, purchasing evolved from a basic function to a managerial concept. Since organizations realized the important role of the minimizing the expenditures on profit maximizing, purchasing has a bigger and more important profile in the organizational structure.If we think of world trades? 95% is done by maritime transport, it is crucial for maritime market, where everything is bound with timing, to maintain its needs on right place and on right time from right suppliers. Because of this reason, this study focuses on the organizational buying behavior of the dry bulk carriers who serve on maritime sector in Turkey. First episode of the thesis focuses on purchasing concept as a general point of view and then purchasing theories were stated. Second episode, emphasizes on organizational buying behaviors, industrial markets structures with organizational buying process. Third and last literature part is embodied to show a glance of the organizational buying process and its elements of Maritime market.Finally, research episode is executed by interviewing with attendants who are chosen within the subject of the thesis. Research aims to point out organizational buying behaviors of the dry bulk carriers on maritime sector within Turkey. Data that collected from participants, evaluated by content analysis and frequency analysis.
