Abstract (EN)
In this study, we investigated not only the antimicrobial activities of phosphazene compounds which are tetradentate ligand with trimer, but also the interactions of these phosphazene compounds with DNA. This study is the first study carried out with these substances regarding biological activities.Through the investigation of their effects on human pathogenic bacteria and fungi and of their interactions with DNA, it was aimed to find whether synthesized novel phosphazene compounds would be considered as antimicrobial or anticancer agents in the future. Therefore, B. cereus (NRRL-B-3711), B. subtilis (ATCC 6633), E.coli (ATCC 25922), E. coli (ATCC 35218), E. faecalis (ATCC 292112), P. aeruginosa (ATCC 27853), P. vulgaris (ATCC 8427), S. aureus (ATCC 25923), C. albicans (ATCC 10231), C. tropicalis (ATCC 13803) microorganisms were used in order to research the antimicrobial activity of 11 different phosphazene compounds (IF1-IF11). Agar well diffusion method was chosen in order to determine the antimicrobial activity.It was shown that IF5, IF6, IF7 and IF8 compounds had been antimicrobial activity. These four compounds were observed to be effective against B. cereus and B. subtilis bacteria. In addition, it was observed that IF5 was also effective against E. faecalis, IF6 was effective against S. aureus and C. tropicalis microorganisms. E.coli (ATCC 25922), E. coli (ATCC 35218), P. aeruginosa (ATCC 27853), P. vulgaris (ATCC 8427) and C. albicans (ATCC 10231) were shown to be resistant to all compounds. IF6 which showed effect against the maximum number of microorganisms and created the largest zone of inhibition among the compounds studied was found to have the most effective antimicrobial activity.The interaction between the compounds and pBR322 plasmid DNA were analyzed by agarose gel electrophoresis. It was found that all substances, depending on the concentration of compounds and the duration of incubation, showed effects such as DNA destruction and cleavage. It was observed digestion at the restriction analysis not only with BamHI enzyme but also with HindIII enzyme.Keywords : Phosphazene, Biological Activity, DNA Interactions
