Özet (EN)

PURPOSE: We aimed to compare the effects of using the carbondioxide absorbent Dragersorb 800 plus according to APSF recommendations or not. MATERIAL AND METHOD: DEU Medical School Clinical and Laboratory Researchs Ethical Board approved this study. To mimic the clinical conditions 200 ml/min. CO2 was given into the test lung. Fresh Drägersorb 800 plus was used as absorbent. 12 hours of anesthesia (sevofluran with 4 L/min. flow rate, 50 %O2/N2O one hour anesthesia and 0.5 hour break) and 12 hours waiting periods were used.In Group A(n=6) 150 ml/min. O2 was given during 0.5 hour periods. Anesthesia circuits were removed during the 12 hours waiting periods. In the group not following the recommendations (n=6) 6 L/min. O2 was left open during 0.5 hour breaks and 12 hours waiting periods. Studies were stopped when IMCO2 reached to 2 mmHg. The durations for IMCO2 1 and 2 mmHg, weight, humidity and temperature of the system, color changes, CO level were recorded each hour. RESULTS: Exhausting times of absorbents in Group A were significantly higher composed to Group B (p=0.004) Absorbent weight was statistically high in Group A significantly. Humidity and temperature increase was higher in Group A. For the absorbents change of color to violet was less frequent in Group A at the time of exhaustion. CO wasn?t determined in any group. CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS: Following the APSF recommendations increases the usage periods of absorbents, and temperature and humidity are more easily produced.Following the APSF recommendations and using the absorbents wisely will be more safe and lower the cost.
