Abstract (EN)

The main objective of economic activities is to increase social welfare. One of the methods that countries use to increase their prosperity is to carry out commercial activities with other countries. In this process, which is called as export and import operations, firms can face many problems. One of the most important problems encountered in foreign trade transactions is the collection of the cost of goods. The purpose of this study is to determine the payment methods and problems encountered by foreign trade companies in the Eastern Black Sea Region. In this context, a survey was conducted with 104 companies operating in the region. The answers given to the questionnaire were analyzed by using SPSS.23 statistical program. The obtained results were converted into tables and graphs.According to the results of the survey; in the export transactions, cash payment method (29,81%), payment method against goods (16,35%) and bank payment liability method (5,77%) are preferred. In the import transactions, the cash payment method (27,88%), the counter payment method (7,69%) and the payment method against goods (2,88%) are respectively included. The most important results obtained from the study covering the Eastern Black Sea Region (Trabzon, Rize and Artvin) is that firms prefer prepaid payment method or have to be preferred in both export and import operations. This situation does not seem compatible with Turkey's average.
