Healthy lifestyle behaviors and quality of life of health personnel working in the primary health care institutions in Düzce central district and resident doctors and nurses working in university hospital

Aim: In this study, it was aimed to evaluate and compare the healthy lifestyle behaviors and quality of life of health personnel working in the primary health care institutions in Düzce central district and resident doctors and nurses working in university hospital. Materials and Methods: A questionnaire consisting of 105 questions was conducted with 485 health professionals from nurses and assistant doctors working at Düzce University Health Practice and Research Center, public health directorate, central community health center and 19 family health centers in the central district. The universe is made up of 581 health professionals. This was a cross-sectional study and there was no sample selection. In the first part of the questionnaire, 26 questions were about socio demographic characteristics and some questions about health related behaviors, Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors- II Questionnaire consisting of 52 questions in the 2nd part, 27 questions in the 3rd part of WHOQOL-BREF- TR was used. Student T Test, Variance Analysis (One Way ANOVA), Kruskal Wallis, Mann Whitney U, Spearman Correlation Analysis, Chi-square were performed for data analysis. A value of p <0.05 was considered significant. Results: % 71.3 of the participants were female, and % 28.7 were male. % 3.3 were underweight, % 54.5 were in the normal range, % 30.4 were pre-obese and % 11.9 were obese. % 11.4 were high school, % 12.4 college , % 31.9 university graduated and % 44.2 have completed master's degree, doctorate or specialist education. Income was less than the expense of % 21.4, income was equal to expense of % 59.2, income was more than the expense of % 19.3 of the participants. The highest scores on the SYBD-2 scale were obtained from spiritual development and interpersonal relationships and for the physical activity subscale with the lowest score. Scores taken from the SYBD-2 scale have significantly changed with the age group, gender, occupation, institution being studied, education, occupation, marital status, having child, income status, productive self-efficacy, satisfaction with work environment, regular medication use and some health behaviors. Participants had the highest scores on the WHOQOL-BREF-TR scale, both psychologically and socially domains, then physically, and finally the lowest score from environment-TR domain.There was a significant difference according to gender, occupation, BMI, marital status, having child, institution being studied, productive self-efficacy, job satisfaction, income status, alcohol use, presence of diagnosed disease, health care provider appeal when there is health problem, health status perception with the domain scores related to quality of life. Conclusion: In this study, healthy lifestyle behaviors and quality of life of health workers were found to be moderate. However, there are many factors that affect both, and corrections should be made to these factors.
