This research tries to bring a psychological approach to Ebu'l-Ala el-Maarri's poetry, thus making a comparative analysis between the author's life on the one hand and his poetry on the other. In this context, a framework of the author's psychological crises is presented, then the psychological effects caused by these crises will be examined, thus evaluating how effective these effects are on his literature and poetry. In this framework, the study is divided into sections, namely introduction, three chapters and conclusion. In the first part, the characteristics of psychological effects in the eyes of al-Maarri are discussed, and in the second part, the external causes of this psychological effect are mentioned. Then, the appearance forms of psychological effects are discussed in the third part. Finally, in the conclusion part, the results and suggestions obtained during the research are given. A descriptive analytical approach was followed in the research as it was suitable for the aims and requirements of the study. Examining the bad conditions that caused the psychological effects, smallpox, loss of vision, loss of mother and father can be counted the tragedies that il al-Maarri faced during his journey in search of knowledge. The crises and tragedies that the author has faced throughout his life can be considered the most important causes and motives of the psychological effects he has been exposed to. Because he had to cope with various kinds of psychological crises that emerged in different forms and progressed gradually as a result of the events and conditions to which he was exposed one after the other. The main ones are depression, isolation and loneliness and the way he looks at himself .
