Abstract (EN)
The Enlightenment symbolizes an era in which radical changes took place in society and individuals in the west in the 18th century. Edmund Burke appears as a philosopher who witnessed developments occuring in the Age of Enlightenment with being born in 1729. Burke made various evaluations on the era owing to being a part of the Age of Enlightenment. His criticisms towards drastic changes that took place during the age comprise the main theme of his evaluations.His critical attitude aforesaid aroused interest of some people who assessed the age from its destructive aspect. In time, this instance had a significant effect on the foundation of conservative ideology which originated around Edmund Burke's thoughts. Conservative idea still continues to exist in the course of time by criticising the Enlightenment. Among the criticisms directed towards the Enlightenment by conservative ideology are absolute reason and individualism, and ciriticsms towards rationalism/fictionality approach, and criticisms towards revolutionary fundamentalist approach. The main objective of this study is to comprehend and explain the way the Age of Enlightenment and conservative ideology base human beings in society within the framework of criticisms.
