Abstract (EN)
It was conducted to examine the relationship between the levels of compassion fatigue and job satisfaction of nurses working in the hemodialysis center and the factors affecting it. The sample of this study, which used a cross-sectional descriptive research design, consisted of 230 nurses working in the hemodialysis units of state hospitals in Baghdad, Iraq. Data were collected online between August 1th 2020 and November 15th 2020, using a socio demographic questionnaire, compassion fatigue scale (CFS) and nurses' job satisfaction scale (NJSS). It was determined that 57% of the hemodialysis nurses had moderate compassion fatigue, and 75.7% were not satisfied with their jobs. There was no significant relationship between nurses' socio-demographic characteristics, compassion fatigue and job satisfaction (p>0.05). About half of the nurses experience compassion fatigue and more than half are dissatisfied with their jobs. Especially young nurses are more risky than older nurses to experience compassion fatigue.
