The effects of plyometric training and whole body vibration training on anaerobic power and capacity

Abstract (EN)

Objective: The purpose of this study was to effect of Plyometric training combined with Whole Body Vibration (WBV) training on Anaerobic power and capacity. Method: Sixty six male (20,57 ± 1,60 years old) participated in this study voluntarily. They were randomly assigned to a WBV training (n=22), Plyometric (PLY) Training group (n=23) and Combined (C) training group (n=21) which was trained both WBV and PLY training. Three times per week, totally 36 training (each one 40 min) was conducted. Testing was performed before (PreTest) mid and after (PostTest) the 12 week period and comprised Anthropometric measurements (AntM), Vertical (VJ) and Counter Movement Jump (CMJ) performance, Wingate Anaerobic power and capacity (WAnt), Isometric Power (IP) and Leg Muscle Area (LMA). Results: The VJ (Pre Test: 40.38±4.21 cm, Post Test: 43.95±4.52 cm) and CMJ (Pre Test: 29.37±6.49, Post Test: 32.45±5.79) significantly increased (P<0.05) after C training, whereas performance of VJ and CMJ after WBV training only unchanged. Considering the many parameters there were no significant difference between pre and posttests in WBV training group. Conclusion: It may be said that, complex training group was showed more improvement than PLY and WBV training group for many measurements. Key words: Complex, Vibration, Plyometrics, Anaerobic
