The achievement level of cognitive domain objectives of introduction to educational science course

The aim of this study is to determine the achievement level of the Introduction the Educational Science Course which is lectured at Abant Izzet Baysal University at Primary School Teaching Department first grade by examining students? acquisition level and to put forward some suggestions. On the basis of the aim of the study answers of the following questions were to be found. 1. What is the achievement level of the cognitive domain objectives of the Introduction to Educational Science Course? 2. Is there a meaningful difference between the pre-test and post test scores of the achievement test prepared to test the achievement level of the cognitive domain objectives of the Introduction to Educational Science Course? 3. Is there any meaningful difference in the students posttest achievement scores? a) their gender b) type of education (morning or evening classes) The achievement test, which was prepared and developed by the researcher to obtain the necessery data for the subproblems of the study were answered by the first year students of Abant Izzet Baysal University Primary School Teaching Department both at the beginning and at the end of Fall semester of 2006-2007. The data obtained from pre and posttests applications were analyzed by means of SPSS 15.00 program and their mean and standart deviation scores, the percent of success, and t test were used to interprent the data. Having analyzed the data collected, the followings could be considered as the results the study: The results of this study in dicated that 0.70 of cognative domain objectives of Introduction to Educational Science Courses were achieved. Mean while a significant difference was found in favour of posttest achievement scores of students when pretest and posttest applications of the achievement test is concerned.When type of education is concerned, no significant difference was found and when the gender is concerned, no significant difference was found between the pretest and posttest achievement scores of the students from the Introduction to Educational Sciences Course.
